The Rob Parton Big Band Columbus will performance Saturday, October 17 at Otterbein University

Columbus, Ohio – October 15, 2015- On Saturday, Oct 17th the new Rob Parton Big Band of Columbus will perform a one hour set at Otterbein Unversity in the Cowan Auditorium.  This concert is FREE and open to the public.

Music to be performed will be newly commissioned works for Jazz Orchestra and tributes to Clark Terry and Lew Soloff as well as some great swinging arrangements from the Woody Herman Orchestra.

Some notable members of the Rob Parton Big Band include Columbus Musicians, Jim Powell, Pete Mills, Michael Cox, Reggie Jackson, Andy Woodson, Jim Masters, Ryan Hamilton as well as others.

Rob Parton has been leading the Rob Parton Big Band in Chicago for over twenty-five years.  The new Columbus band is very exciting as Parton moved to Columbus about five years ago to become professor of trumpet at Capital University and hasn’t been attempting to lead any groups in Columbus since moving to town.

Parton feels that this band is every bit as strong as his Chicago based unit.

The Rob Parton Big Band Columbus (RPBB), a new Columbus based 18-piece jazz ensemble that celebrates and represents the best of the big band tradition with a modern and original sound.  Through creative modern arrangers, the vast historical repertoire available today and the plethora of modern writers around the country, the band prides itself on hard swinging virtuoso ensemble playing comprised of some of the finest jazz musicians Columbus has to offer.

“The band is very strong in every section and proves to be a great musical release for all of the musicians involved.”

“I am really excited to present this band to the incredible Columbus Arts community.”
